And a leper came to him, begging him. And kneeling down, he said to him, “If you are willing, you are able to cleanse me.” Then Jesus, taking pity on him, reached out his hand. And touching him, he said to him: “I am willing. Be cleansed.” (Mark 1:40-41).

My dear friends, just as we sometimes find it extremely difficult to free ourselves from some bad habit or sin, this leprous person was unable to free himself from his disease. Like leprosy, sin can be fatal (1 Samuel 4:1-11) – even eternally so! Hence like the leper, we too need to approach Jesus for his cleansing touch to free us from our sinfulness.

Having stretched out his hand to touch and heal the leper, no one is too bad that Jesus will refuse to touch him/her. No matter how filthy we may feel, we only need to ask him to cleanse us and we will be saved (Psalm 44:10-26, Mark 1:40-41).

Reflection Passages For Today: 1 Samuel 4:1-11, Psalm 44:10-26, Mark 1:40-45

And “You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us” – 2 Corinthians 9:11

  1. It is unfortunate that many people are lured into sin because Satan coats it with honey, but underneath it all is the stench of death. So true, sin can be fatal. Also, I feel sometimes makes our path harder because of disobedience, and at present we are living in a world of disobedience. Have a blessed week. Awesome post.
