More than ever before, we are faced with great tension between sin and virtue, good and evil, light and darkness (Isaiah 60:2). The coming of Jesus Christ was to enthrone his kingdom of light in a sin darkened world (John 1:1-5). It is now up to us to choose his light over the darkness often lurking around us.
In this regard, the Prophet Isaiah encourages us to “Arise” and “shine for all to see…for your light has come” (Isaiah 60:1). That is, to choose good over evil, virtue over sin, the light of Christ over the darkness often found around us. In this regard, we need to help in spreading the light of Christ to all peoples (Isaiah 60:2-4, Ephesians 3:5-6).
Like the magi, may we be courageous to always distance ourselves from all acts of darkness, of sin, of death by always choosing to take a different way at all times (Matthew 2:12).
