We must not allow anyone to lead us astray into offending one another, thereby offending God (1 John 3:7). It does not matter what the pretext or reason may be. We must not allow ourselves to be drawn into a life of hate, of violence, of discrimination, of segregation, and of sin (1 John 3:8-9). For “no one who fails to act in righteousness belongs to God, nor anyone who does not love his brother.” (1 John 3:10).
Consequently, authentic believers must strive to distance themselves from all rhetoric and all other devices being employed today to further divide us as families, as friends, as citizens of this world, and also citizens of God’s eternal kingdom (1 John 3:9).
By so doing, we will be witnessing to God’s unconditional love for us (Psalm 97(98):1-9). We will also be drawing countless numbers of persons to God and to salvation (John 1:35-42).
