We come to the last day of this year focusing on the family. As marriages today are dissolving with increasing frequency thanks to undiluted secularism, the complete death of family life as we have come to know it is only a few years away. The consequences of such an outcome are already with us: high level of depression, high suicide rates, heightened moral laxity and decay, increased violence in the society, lack of self-sacrificial commitment to one another and to our duties, chaos.
To forestall such fatal occurrences, God’s wisdom comes to our aid (Sirach 3:3-17; Psalm 127(128):1-5; Colossians 3:12-21; Luke 2:22-40). Simply put, to avert the impending societal chaos, we need to enthrone God’s word wherever we may have dethroned it. God is not the enemy, rather our distorted view of God, is.
Hence, may we not allow the depravity of some religious leaders, and some acclaimed agnostics, freethinkers, and atheists to mislead us.
