The prophesy of the angel to Zechariah is that the son to be born to him will bring many people back to the Lord (Luke 1:16). This child will also help to bring about peace and well being in family life and in the society at large (Luke 1:17).
My dear friend, that son born to Zechariah is John the Baptist (Luke 1:13). He was the precursor of the era and mission of Christ the Lord. And in fulfilment of the angels words to his father Zechariah (Luke 1:16-17), John the Baptist did invite us all to repent and to embrace virtuous lives in preparation for that great encounter with our Lord, and for our eternal salvation (Luke 3:1-20).
But as we gradually come to “ground zero”, to that great day of encounter with Christ the Lord, have we adequately prepared ourselves? Can I honestly affirm to myself that I am fit for the Lord, when he comes? (Luke 1:17).
