[1.] 1Corinthians 10:14-22 [2.] Psalm 116:12-18 (Response to the Previous)
[3.] John 14:23 (Summary of the Gospel of the Day) [4.] Luke 6:43-49 (Gospel of the Day)
Our true beliefs, our true motivations, our true inclinations, and who we really are, usually finds a way of revealing itself in our utterances and actions (cf. Luk.6:43-45). And with that revelation comes the shocking realisation that many of us are actually modern day idol worshippers! (cf. Exo.20:1-7, 1Cor.10:14-22). My dear friend, putting our trust in anything other than God is idolatry.
Our modern day idols are those symbols of power, pleasure or/and prestige—wealth, sex, erudition, status, etc.,—that we so highly extol today. These are false securities, and we are simply building without a foundation if their usage is not guided by God’s word (cf. Luk.6:46-49, Joh.14:23, Psa.116:12-18). For in this present life, the symbols of power, prestige and pleasure are transient; but God, His Word, His promises, are everlasting (cf. Mal.3:6, Mat.24:35, Luk.21:33).
