[1.] 1Corinthians 7:25-31 [2.] Psalm 45:11-17 (Response to the Previous)
[3.] Luke 6:23 (Summary of Gospel of the Day) [4.] Luke 6:20-26 (Gospel of the Day)

My dear friend, we are here for the hereafter; our life on earth determines the life which is to come after our death. This is the message of the bible passages we have today. It is only in this light that we can begin to make sense of the demands of the Lord’s Beatitudes (cf. Luk.6:20-26) and the urgency in Paul’s address to the Corinthians, believing that Christ’s second coming was going to happen during his lifetime (cf. 1Cor.7:25-31).

Consequently, we are being invited to live at all times, a life worthy of God’s kingdom. For although no one knows the hour of Christ’s second coming (cf. Mat.24:36, Mar.13:32), Christ does come to each one of us at our death, and no one knows exactly when s/he will breathe the last breath (cf. Mat.24:44.46, Mar.13:33, Luk.12:40.46).

Hence, the need to listen; to pay heed, to give ear to these words (cf. Psa.45:11). And there will be much rejoicing and joy when those who did listen will be rewarded in heaven (cf. Luk.6:23).

And “You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us” – 2 Corinthians 9:11
