[1.] 1Corinthians 3:18-23 [2.] Psalm 24:1-6 (Response to the Previous)
[3.] Matthew 4:19 (Summary of Gospel of the Day) [4.] Luke 5:1-11 (Gospel of the Day)
“DO NOT BE AFRAID” (cf. Luk.5:10). How consoling these words are to those of us who have at some point in life experienced the taste of failure of some sort (cf. Luk.5:5). Failure has an enfeebling effect, it instils fears and often discourages one from trying again. And how much many of us would give if only to never taste failure again (cf. 1Cor.3:18-23). That is precisely the experience of Simon Peter, who realising that Divine Grace suffices to attend to, and resolve that which incapacitates human expertise, surrendered himself completely to God’s guidance by following Jesus (cf. Luk.5:11, Psa.24:1-6).
Are there questions, situations or/and fears that weigh you/us down? (cf. Luk.5:5) My dear friend, there is no need to fear; if only we can take a leap of faith like Simon and “put out into the deep” (cf. Luk.5:4) and allow God’s word guide us, and walk (and work) us through life; and how great “a catch” we will make (cf. Luk.5:6), unto eternal life.
