DEAR FRIEND, we have in the readings today, a beautiful presentation of the necessary sacrifice of Jesus; and he invites us to journey in his steps for our eternal glory (cf. Joh.12:26).
Hence, just as Jesus did ‘die’ to himself (cf. Joh.12:25, Phi.2:2-4,5-7), and then as one man, generously ‘sowed’ his earthly human life that many may have life in God – reaping bountifully (cf. 2Cor.9:5, Joh.12:23-27, Phi.2:8-11), we too must ‘sow’ our lives ‘to make the harvest of our good deeds a larger one’ (cf. 2Cor.9:10) by dying to ourselves – giving up human desires which does not help our eternal purpose (cf. Joh.12:25), even if it entails the laying down of our mortal life just like Jesus (cf. Phi.2:8, Joh.12:25b).
