DEAR FRIEND, fear breeds doubt, the greatest enemy of our soul – being opposed to Faith, Hope, and Love (cf. 1Cor.12-13). Faith is confident assurance concerning what we hope for, and conviction about things we do not see (cf. Heb.11:1). It entails absolute trust in God’s providence and guidance, and it is this (Faith) that aided Abraham and his wife Sarah, through the toughest of times of their life (cf. Heb.11:1-19). But Faith does not exist without Hope (cf. Gen.12:1-3, Gen.17:7-8). Hope stems from confidence that God never fails to keep his promises. It is a firm trust that God will give us everlasting happiness (in heaven) and all means necessary to obtain it, if we do what he requires of us – just like Abraham (cf. Titus 3:6-7, Heb.10:23, Heb.11:1-19).

THUS we are encouraged to Faith and to Hope, just like Israel (cf. Wis.18:6-9), even amidst the uncertainties of our times which often leads us astray by the fear(s) it evokes in us. But fear no more, “for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom”. Hence, y(our) Faith should lead us to constant vigilance (Lk.12:35-40,43, 47) so as to more perfectly adhere to God’s ordinances by acts of Love (cf. Lk.12:33-34,42,48b, 1Cor.13) in view of the Hope we share.
